Wrestling TidBits - 10/25

[Wrestling TidBits]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been a while since I've been on the internet. It appears that some people seem to enjoy a certain member of this website called "Twitter" posting quotes from my old TidBits articles (cheap pop: which are available at http://rspw.org/tidbits) and taking many of them out of context. Well, I'm going to put a stop to that. Starting next Wednesday, I'll be posting old TidBits articles and every Thursday I'll post a new one. Let the fun begin.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Picture of The Week
This week's picture features Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson), one of my favourite new wrestlers who has sadly been saddled with a crappy gimmick by the WWE (boy, how things change! ;) ).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I caught TNA's latest pay-per-view, Bound for Glory, the other day. Of course, in this day and age of being able to download entire pay-per-views just about immediately after they finish, I naturally decided to get it from one of those sites. Hope Dixie doesn't mind. ;)Anyways, here's a match-by-match rundown of what I thought of the show:

Rob Van Dam vs Zema Ion for the TNA X-Division Championship: I thought the X-Divison had a weight limit. ;) Not really my type of match.
Samoa Joe vs Magnus for the TNA Television Championship: Samoa Joe wasn't very impressive when I first saw him, but he's improved tenfold since. Magnus... well, not so much. Good match, which says something for Joe's talents.
James Storm vs Bobby Roode with "King" Mo as a special guest enforcer: I hope "King" Mo is better in the ring then he is as an enforcer. Actually, he reminded me of Mike Tyson at WrestleMania XIV in that way... except "Iron" Mike was actually relevant in 1998. Considering the past MMA crossover stars (Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn), "King" Mo has a lot going against him. The match was another great one from Storm and Roode, though it was slightly dampened due to the "King".
Joey Ryan vs Al Snow (if Joey Ryan wins, he gets a contract with TNA): Snow can still go! Not discrediting Joey Ryan, of course. From the little I've seen of the guy, he seems like a great wrestler. A bit gimmicky, though. Not in the Undertaker kind of way, but still gimmicky.
The World Tag Team Champions of the World (Chris Daniels and Kazarian) vs AJ Styles and Kurt Angle vs Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez (w/o Pepe) for the TNA World Tag Team Championship (of the world): I was extremely disappointed that one of the best tag teams of 2012 did not win this. Yes, they were involved in a crappy angle (no pun intended) just a few months ago, but they were the best part about it. There is literally no excuse for Chavito and this blown-up pinata (seriously, look up the word "steroids" in the dictionary and you'll see a picture of him... well, either him or Hercules Hernandez (ooh, nice coincidence! ;) )) to win the belts.
Miss Tessmacher vs Tara for the TNA Knockouts Championship: These girls have nothing on the SHIMMER girls.
Sting and Bully Ray vs Aces and Eights (Mike Knox and Luke Gallows) (if Aces and Eights win, they get full access to Universal Studios Florida -- err, the Impact Zone): I've been through some drawn out story lines before, but this takes the cake. This story line has single-handedly turned TNA from a potential Promotion of the Year candidate to the probable winner of WrestleCrap's "Gooker" award!
Austin Aries vs Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship: I'll admit it. I don't see what the internet sees in Austin Aries. However, I don't think it was the right decision to give Jeff Hardy the title, even though his contract is up in smoke (pun fully intended) and they're doing anything they can to keep him. He hasn't worked a good match since 2002. Just let him leave.

All in all, I thought it was a thumbs in the middle. I lost my subscription to the Observer a few years ago, so I can't tell you what they think of it. (if you have sources, go ahead and send them to me in the comments! ;) )

WWE's latest video game, "WWE '13", comes out this coming Tuesday for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. You probably know this from the net already, but it will include an Attitude Era mode, which is not very good incentive for me if you've ever read my TidBits from back then. It features the largest roster in WWE video game history, with 105 unique characters if you include the DLC (the newest money grab for video game developers). However, there are multiple duplicate characters due to every person that's on the roster today (as well as Bradshaw, Lita and Edge for some reason) having two versions: a current version and an Attitude Era version (John Cena also has an alternative character model labeled "John Cena '04", even though it's a recreation of his "Battle Rap" outfit from earlier this year during his feud with The Rock). The best part is that Mankind has 3 different characters, all representing the different "Faces of Foley" (Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love). Mankind's character even has an alternative attire of his own (his original Mankind outfit), which means there are 4 (!) different models of Mick Foley in the game. Good grief. Best Buy locations in North America have "demos" of the game set up, which are actually just the full version of the PlayStation 3 copy of the game. I actually went out to try it, but my local Best Buy doesn't have it set up. (Instead, they have some stupid baseball game set up. Don't ask me why.) I remember playing WWF WrestleFest when that came out back in 1991 (!), and that game only had 6 characters in it, so imagine how I reacted when I saw there were a total of 105 in this.

The WWE has Hell In A Cell this Sunday. Tentative line-up includes:
    * CM Punk vs Ryback for the WWE Championship in a Hell In A Cell match
    * Sheamus vs The Big Slow for the World Heavyweight Championship in a Hell In A Cell match
    * Team Hell No! (Daniel Bryan and Kane) vs Team Rhodes Scholars (Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow) for the WWE Tag Team Championship (may or may not be a Hell In A Cell match)
    * Alberto Del Rio vs Randy Orton in a grudge match
    * Kofi Kingston vs The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship
    * Layla vs Kaitlyn vs Eve for the Diva's Championship
    * John Cena will have a "press conference" during the YouTube pre-show.

It seems like nobody can agree on the finish for CM Punk vs Ryback. Some dirtsheets claim that they don't "want Ryback to lose, want the match to end in a screwjob, want the belt to be on a face when they face The Rock at Royal Rumble," and other junk.

Am I the only person wondering how in the blue hell The Rock has somehow become THE wrestler to beat in WWE? Well, unless you count CM Punk's battle for "respect". ;)

TNA has Turning Point on 11/11/12. Tentative line-up includes:
    * Jeff Hardy vs Austin Aries for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship
